Veracruz, Ver.- As part of the official agenda of Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, President of Mexico, during her visit to the State of Veracruz, in which she was accompanied by Eng. Rocío Nahle García, Governor of the State; Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles, Secretary of the Navy; and Admiral Abraham Eloy Caballero Rosas, Director of the National Port System Administration in Veracruz, through a tour at this Port both authorities from this sector and port operators of the North Bay, showcased the operations of their terminals and highlighted public and private investments that have contributed to the growth and modernization of the port.

The event took place at CICE’s new terminal in the North Bay of the Port of Veracruz last friday, February 14. Alfonso Díaz de Vega, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CICE, provided a comprehensive briefing on the progress of the Semi-Specialized Terminal for Container and Cargo Project. Representing one of the most ambitious infrastructure undertakings in the region in recent years, the project entails an investment of 7 billion pesos. The port terminal is due to begin operations in April 2025 and is expected to significantly enhance the port’s handling capacity, positioning it as a pivotal spot in maritime trade. The development is expected to generate approximately 500 permanent direct jobs and over 1,200 indirect jobs.

     

This high-level engagement reinforced the importance of fostering synergies between governmental authorities, private companies and port operators to drive the continued development of the Port of Veracruz. Mexico’s foremost port. The strategic investment program is set to establish a benchmark for innovation and modernization within the sector, while simultaneously bolstering trade flows and strengthening regional competitiveness.
